Single Layer Cards

Hello everyone and welcome to another fun challenge!

As much as I love clean and simple cards, my cards always have layers.  Always!  Even if it's just ONE layer.  I think it's a safety net for me.  I never tend to stamp directly onto the actual card base because it never fails that I mess up.  And a stamped image with a border backing layer will always spiffy a card up.  So this challenge really made me stretch.

The challenge is to create a SINGLE LAYER CARD!  No layers, no backing (frame) layer, nothing but the actual card base.  You can add embellishments, ribbons, brads or washi tape, etc.  It does not have to be a card, a tag is perfectly ok.

And folks, I had a blast and am absolutely in love with my SINGLE LAYER CARD!
But first, let's welcome our September Step-Sisters and check out their wonderful creations:

For the Love of Monochromatic

Hi Folks,

Micki here with our new challenge.  You guys probably know by now that as much as I love color and white space, I love - love - love- monochromatic.   Kind of like white space, it's a fail safe for me in my artsy creations, especially when my brain goes into it's analytical over load mode, :-)!  Monochromatic is also the perfect theme when life is hectic and time is limited for arts and crafts!

The English Dictionary defines MONOCHROMATIC as:

adjective
1.
of or having one color.
2.
of, pertaining to, or having tones of one color in addition to theground hue: monochromatic pottery.
3.
Optics. pertaining to light of one color or to radiation of a singlewavelength or narrow range of wavelengths.
4.
Ophthalmology of or pertaining to monochromatism.

So without further ado, our new challenge is:

MONOCHROMATIC
  • create a project using one color or tones of one color!
  • it can be a card, canvas, crochet or knitted item, ANYTHING craft related as long as it follows the theme.

Deadline to enter:
You have until Sunday, July 6th - 8:00 P.M. (EST).
Winner will be announced Tuesday, July 9th.
Please remember to follow these few simple rules:
  • No backlinking only new creations.
  • Three (3) entry limit.
  • Must follow challenge theme to qualify for prize (when one is available).
  • Direct link to your challenge entry ... not your entire blog.
  • We would really appreciate you turning OFF the word verification.

White On White Winners

I don't know about you guys, but I was literally giddy by each and every project submitted in our White On White challenge!

The elegance of a white card, regardless of the number of layers, is timeless!  And add layer panels of embossed texture, white embellishments and the beauty of these cards just blew me away.  Yup, definitely LOVED this challenge.  Now to the winners.

White on White

Hello everyone, Micki here as your host for our newest challenge!  You all know how much I love white space, especially when creating cards.  Whenever I'm stuck in a rut or can't seem to get the designer papers to look right, regardless of the color combo, creating a clean and simple card with lots of white space is always a sure winner.  White on white is always classic, always elegant and always makes me feel better :-).  And after you see what the girls came up with, you are bound to agree!

So this challenge is all about White on White

Your project must be WHITE.  As you will see with my project, I did use a gray ink to stamp my sentiment, which is perfectly alright.  After all, would be really hard to see white ink on white, right?  I actually used several different shades of white paint to create my mixed media background which I used to create my card.
But first it is my pleasure to introduce you to our April Step Sisters:

APRIL STEP SISTERS:

Deborah Adams - A Creative Life

Absolutely gorgeous cards girls!  A big welcome from the Sistah's!
Now  let's see what the rest of the Sistah's came up with:

  • We would really appreciate you turning OFF the word verification.

And, by all means ... HAVE FUN!

Winter Snowflakes

Hi everyone!  Micki here with our newest challenge details.
Hope everyone is staying warm this winter.  It does seem to be a colder winter season than the previous couple of years, at least here in the Midwest.  And as much as everyone is eagerly anticipating Spring, we thought it a perfect time to challenge you to see the beauty in Winter Snowflakes.  I know I'm hearing some grumbles but seriously, gently falling Winter Snowflakes are beautiful.
So the challenge is to create a project with a Winter Snowflakes theme.
It can be a layout, a card, canvas....
anything as long as there are
Winter Snowflakes
somewhere in your project.
Use Stickles to depict snowflakes, perhaps a layout with fun in the snow pictures, or a canvas with heavy bodied paint to replicate snow covered hills... see where I'm going with this?

Now let's see what the rest of the Sistah's came up with....

first up, a very warm welcome to our January Stepsister
Olga Bester (Elephant Fairies)

Now it's your turn to show us your projects with Winter Snowflakes.

Deadline to enter:
You have until Sunday, February 2nd - 8:00 P.M. (EST).
Winner will be announced Tuesday, February 4th.

Please remember to follow these few simple rules:
  • No backlinking
  • Three (3) entry limit
  • Must follow challenge theme to qualify for prize (when one is available)
  • Direct link to your challenge entry ... not your entire blog.
  • We would really appreciate you turning OFF the word verification.

HAVE FUN!

Embossing!

Hi everyone, Micki here as your hostess for our new challenge! A great big thank you to everyone who joined us in our Fall challenge.  Wow, everyone submitted wonderful, awe inspiring projects!!
Our new challenge is not going to be seasonal or holiday inspired, because - well, I don't know about you but I don't even want to think about the fact that Christmas and the New Year is literally right around the corner, lo!  Instead, let's focus on a technique.

We challenge you to use EMBOSSING on your project.
It can be any type of embossing, such as wet embossing with embossing powder or dry embossing using embossing folders, stylus, etc.  You get the idea, right?
Your project can be a card, 3-D, canvas, etc.
anything that will clearly show the embossing technique!

Before sharing inspiration from the Sisters, we want to give a very warm welcome to our newest step-sisters.  These lovely ladies will be joining us for our November and December challenges and will be sharing their inspirations.  Please welcome

and

Stop by their blogs and leave them some love!

Black, White and One Accent Color

Hi Friends,

Welcome to a new challenge here in The Sisterhood!  We hope you had a wonderful 4th of July holiday and you guys really blew us away with your creations.  Definitely put me in the patriotic mood!
Micki here and it's my turn to host.  I don't know about you, but whenever I am lacking in creative mojo, one sure fire way for me get it back is to go to my basic, classic style.
And that is to use
Black, White and One Accent Color.
You can not go wrong and no matter what, the end result is always a timeless classic.  Not only is this color combination a timeless classic,  it's so versatile.  Depending on the accent color, it can be feminine or masculine.  A general Thinking of You, a Birthday or Get Well card.  And it's absolutely perfect as a Wedding or Anniversary card.
So come play along with us and show us what you can create using only BlackWhite and One Accent Color.  It can be a card, a mixed media project, 3D,  anything as long as you stay within the theme of using only Black, White and one accent color and follow our general rules (see below).

Now, check out these beautiful and elegant cards.

Now it's your turn.  We can't wait to see what you come up with.

You have until Sunday, July 21st - 8PM (EST) to link up your creations.

Please remember to follow these few simple rules:
  • No backlinking
  • Three (3) entry limit
  • Must follow challenge theme to qualify for prize (when one is available)
  • Direct link to your challenge entry ... not your entire blog.
  • We would certainly appreciate you turning OFF the word verification.

Nothing signals a new beginning or the arrival of Spring like Easter. Although with the extremely warm temperatures, it more like signaling the arrival of Summer.

Hi everybody, Micki here.
